25/05/2025 LDR is one of my favourite shows but you can feel it worsening each season. Season 1 is absolute cinema – ‘Sonnies Edge’, ‘Good Will Hunting’, ‘Secret War’ and ‘The Witness’ are GOATED imo- and only a couple episodes lack in either engagement or story. I cannot stress how intelligent S1 is in design, narrative and voice. S2 and S3 share decent variety and a number of engaging episodes but you can feel the storylines gradually worsening or becoming repetitive to a degree. Us fans waited 3 years from S3 to 4 for extremely average storylines with only a couple episodes that stood out. What I loved about LDR is that when you were watching, every episode you thought was so brilliant it could be made into an entire series or movie. ‘Sonnie's Edge’ had so much genuinity with an intelligent cast and animation style along with absolute finesse in the story. Every rewatch, I hoped they made it something bigger. Genuinely, those aforementioned episodes could all be made into a ridiculously crazy movie or a mini series or something. S4 was, to me at least, fairly disappointing after such an anticipated wait.
