most of the people know about the abridged chapter in ncert book hindi-b but the novel is way more deep and sad, SPOILER ALERT!!!! TOPI commits suicide in the end and the readers break down with him, the novel is beyond words, love you raza sahab to show how cruel the world is and how incomplete we are.

The book can be read in a single sitting and is gripping and to the point that you won't be able to stop however you try . it discusses a story of a girl with immense dignity and self-respect . the writing is flawless and so is the plot. lalita, girindra and shekhar's mom are the best characters . It might not sound good but shekhar's character is the one I don't like . spoiler alert!! if his father wont have died who would have married any other woman because he was a coward . lalita was poor , a teenage girl and then also she was strong enough to not marry a man who stood by them , she did not surrender . but shekhar was accompolished, educated, adult and then also could not a stand for his marriage, only because lalita's mama changed his caste. If he was so afraid of reality he should not have consented to lalita of his love for her . shekhar was just a coward person in my opinion . peace out shekhar
