Just to start, I'm giving the good stuff that I think are the animation, the animation was amazing, the lighting, the cinematography, all of that is great.
I had expected a lot from this movie, from what I saw in the trailers, I expected them to explore more of Riley's teenage life, like high school friends, a first crush maybe, and hockey of course, but they focused too much in hockey. Getting new emotions like what in the movie is great change, and adds depth to the movie, but again, they focused too much on anxiety, they could've used her to affect Riley's life in other stuff other than hockey. They forgot most of the emotion and barely used them, that opened a lot of chances but they just y'know decided to stick with anxiety. And I also feel like getting new emotions, anger issues, and hitting puberty overnight is not natural, of course, I can’t fully relate to Riley’s experience as I’m not a girl.
The potential of the other emotions feels underutilized, and the film misses an opportunity by not exploring them further. Focusing on anxiety provides an interesting angle, it would have been more impactful if it also influenced other aspects of Riley's life beyond just hockey.
