I wanted to watch this movie out of curiosity, I liked a couple of his movies, he created a brand of disturbia, and at some point I thought he owned and excelled in his brand.
For a while I suspected that this man is highly disturbed, that his outpouring of sadism and mysoginy, is beyond and far rooted than the celluloid, or the digital format.
With The house that Jack built, my theory has become obvious, tedious and boring, this is his Alter Ego opera, this is him behind and on screen, enacting his fantasies. I don't know what else to think, but I was bored to death with his gratuitous fantasies, his aim was to shock and nausiate you, but didn't succeed. His Alter ego is quite frankly awful, but too stylised, too philosophical and too up his own arse, to be taken seriously at all.
Mr Von Trier is a dull wardrobe serial killer.
