Sad to leave a poor review as a long time fan and constant reader.
I drive a lot nowadays and have switched to audio books as my main way to enjoy novels, my first impression as it got started was the poor narrator. Hardly any inflection, little difference in character voicing. I found myself hitting the 30second back button because what was read didn't sink in. It let my mind wander way too much. Good narration doesn't do that.
I have enjoyed King's fiction over the years as he always did an outstanding job taking me to another world, another reality. This so called story just shoved our politically divided reality right in my face over and over. There was little escape into the story. I listened to Fairy Tale and was hooked, as soon as I turned it on to resume I was transported into the characters reality and out of my own. Same with so many others. But sadly not this one.
