"Expend4bles" - A Disappointing Addition to a Beloved Franchise
As a lifelong fan of Sylvester Stallone and his iconic action classics, my anticipation for "Expend4bles" was high. The first film in "The Expendables" series had promised an exciting revival of the old-school action genre, but sadly, the subsequent installments have failed to deliver on that promise. "Expendables 4" is no exception.
The issues with the franchise seem to persist in this fourth installment. The film suffers from a weak script, subpar CGI effects, and a lack of genuine star power. The action sequences, a trademark of the series, often appear dull and lifeless, with Jason Statham being the sole standout in terms of effort and entertainment.
The addition of Megan Fox to the cast felt out of place and her character lacked the depth needed for such a role. Her acting left much to be desired, and her excessive makeup and impractical appearance during action scenes were distracting.
The plot is underwhelming, and it's filled with predictable moments. While the franchise has always been known for its over-the-top action, "Expendables 4" seems to cross the line into absurdity.
The CGI in this film is a significant letdown, making certain scenes look more like video game cutscenes than a big-budget action movie. It's evident that the film struggled to live up to its $100 million budget, with the final product feeling rushed and lacking attention to detail.
"Expend4bles" fails to capture the spirit and excitement of its predecessors. It's a disappointing addition to a beloved franchise, and it leaves fans hoping for a return to the formula that made the first film so enjoyable. If you're looking for a film featuring Sylvester Stallone with a strong ensemble cast, there are better options out there. Consider revisiting one of Stallone's classics or exploring other action films that deliver on their promises.
