System: Nintendo Switch
I decided to treat myself over the Christmas break and bought this game via Nintendo e-shop because there was a sale. I am not disappointed. I haven’t had a lot of time to game as much as I used to considering I work full-time, but being sick in bed with the flu gave me a reason to do nothing but that which was actually quite nice.
The HP universe is spectacular and the storyline is well-crafted. The graphics on the Nintendo Switch is subpar compared to on a PC, Xbox, PS5 etc, however, as someone who just wanted to play the game, I was very happy.
There’s so much to do on the main quest; so, adding in any additional side quests will give you tons of playing time. I’ve been playing for well over 20+hrs and I’ve only completed like 5% of the challenges. As you progress, the easier it is to enter battles and get swept up in the storytelling; plus, I love learning new spells which all come in handy when fighting harder enemies.
The only thing I absolutely hate about the game is the flying. Whoever decided that you needed both L and R controls to manoeuvre the bloody camera while flying on a broom should come back down to reality. That’s the only part of the game I really hate at the moment (but so far, it doesn’t seem to be holding me back considering I have decided to skip it for now).
I also don’t like that there isn’t an easier way to equip potions during battle (or that you can only equip one at a time) and how you need to keep changing your ‘slotted’ spells and can’t just have them all at your disposal with some main ones being assigned to ‘x’ ‘y’ ‘ a’ and ‘b’.
Highly recommend the game. Well worth the price.
Note: if you’re afraid of spiders, please turn on ‘arachnophobia mode’ in settings. There are A LOT of spiders throughout the game, but this setting turns them into cartoonish blobs. They still look menacing at first, but you get used to them a lot more quickly than if they were in their original form (trust me — if you are afraid of spiders, turn this setting on!)
