An absolute joy! Suspend your harsh critique of the foolish plot, this film hinges on the comic timing of Michael Caine and the thankfully reigned in manic goofiness of Steve Martin...Two con men are bought together by fate and destination, both know the town, a fictional spot, Beaumont Sur Mer, on the French Riviera isn't big enough for the two of them, so settle on a wager........many laugh out loud moments ensue......I have watched this movie, maybe 10/15 times, and it never fails, yes, it's silly in its premise, and probably morally reprehensible to suggest fleecing rich women is something of an art form, but the chemistry between the two leading men is the whole essence of the film.....pour yourself a glass of champagne, sit back, and enjoy!!!!
