A Joy

I turned it off after 1.5 episodes. The portrayal of the main character as a promiscuous and heavy-drinking flight attendant troubled me and stood stronly against my personal morals. Many people in the world still have strong morals and want shows with redemptive qualities that get to the point quicker. The long intro, the bar and sex scenes, the calling the brother, gay in the face for the sake of meeting that quota were offputting and distracting fillers overshadowing the potential for a meaningful and thought-provoking storyline. And the idea she would 'hook up' endlessly without questioning what happened to the last guy she hooked up with and ended up murdered was unbelievable. Dead ends, like the office visit with staff raising their eyebrows--to no avail. Calls to the brother, for what purpose? The plot failed to captivate my interest. It lacked the necessary intrigue to keep me invested.

I guess I'm into life philosophy and thought it would be like restaurant makeover plus personality makeover so that is what intrigued me. BUT...Too much unnecessary rage yelling! Yelling, I said, Yelling, yelling, yelling...I wanted to fire all the staff myself. Hoped someone would. Didn't happen. The yelling was VERY off-putting. AND...Too much swearing. Some parts too slow or unnecessary. Guys fighting supposed to help create comedy which wasn't funny, just annoying. I liked Simone (?) the saviour until I thought, "wait, what is she 18?" I watched up until Season 2 until ep 4-5? when he kissed the girl. Came away each time feeling a bit toxically traumatized. Not sure if I'll want to see what else happens or not. I more or less watched that far after husband had gone to bed and episodes just kept loading and I was too lazy to turn it off.

Writer assumes average viewer knows what's going on. Not enough storytelling, explanation, too much dodging from one scene to another assuming viewer gets anything about what's happening. Watched 2 ep and was a waste of time.

Too slow and tedious. Got through part of 1st and quit.
