Politics aside (because 1600's Japan definitely was male dominated when it came to warriors, but at least most of the enemies are men), I am disappointed that it is a lesser game than Ghost of Tsushima.
Positives: Environment and clothing graphics are some of the best I have ever seen. Multiple weapon options was a great upgrade. And fast traveling is extremely quick.
Negatives: Doesn't feel authentically Japanese anymore. Woman main character seems forced and puts it more in fantasy, which is fine in itself, but the writing isn't good. Which is such a disappointment after the masterpiece of Ghost of Tsushima (for example the first "town" is scared of her without any reason, she's only now 20-30 years later getting revenge? Why did she wait and that's not a very good motive to kill half of Japan...). Also, why set this in the 1600's when you still have no cities (I guess to have "guns")? It feels like the 1300's still. The interactive scenes are ALL terrible and unnecessary. The cutscenes are boring. They improved very little and messed up a whole lot to make this less enjoyable than the first game, which had me on the edge of my seat and felt like it was a classic samurai movie, and so relaxing. Face graphics seem like a downgrade to the original, but certainly not improved, which is not true for environments and clothing graphics, as mentioned previously. Picking up items and horse interactions seem glitched and hopefully will be patched.
The main character voice/face actress being pro-fagtifa is annoying to me, I will admit, but nothing to do with my review, believe it or not.
2/5 stars. The first game, Ghost of Tsushima was a 5/5. So, very disappointing.
