Yes it's corny, yes it's a meaningless romp, yes it's simple entertainment. Depp brings Captain Jack to British aristocracy and it is such a good fit. At times it's a British farce starring Terry Thomas, other times it's Mike Myers. Whatever, it's simple fun and great escapism.
