I mistakenly thought this was going to be a traditional Western featuring gunfights and horse chases. Well, I was surprised - PLEASANTLY surprised, as much as I love traditional Westerns. It's more a heartwarming, inspirational family drama that just happens to take place in an 1860s western town. Joel McCrea is excellent as the preacher, but the supporting cast, including Ellen Drew and Dean Stockwell, is also excellent. It was fun to see young James Arness and young Amanda Blake (Gunsmoke co-stars) in this one.
