I was able to see Christ Jesus more clearly by watching this movie, & as a real Christian that meant a lot to me. While an Afro American can be a patriot & a hero, as sure as the sky is blue, this one sensed deviance in that the comic books portray mostly a white Captain America. Deviance works out sometimes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, & sometimes not. This one took $180 million to make & 340 million so far in Box Office Gross, a profit. Arguably, deviance worked in this case. The tech that gives him his power are awesome--the wings, the shield, the vibranium shock absorbers. Cap's hand to hand combat skills make him look like a real boxer &/or martial artists. Why couldn't Isaiah Bradley, the comic book black Captain America, instead of a new Sam Wilson? The first time I saw this movie, the theater was packed & the second time, skeletal. This Cap is a real hero--deciding to rescue the hostages instead of securing the package, a defiance of orders & leading the Red Hulk away from the White House in the climatic battle in the end. I can't believe sometimes how deviant the Marvel Cinematic Universe is sometimes & how the deviance is defended if it doesn't work. The plot had the punch to make me care --Ross' unjust confinement of supersoldier Bradley & experimentation on for 30 years, for instance. To use Isaiah Bradley might take us to a different time period, or maybe not. An out of control Red Hulk who calms himself up on the hero's gentle persuasion, another sign of an able hero who doesn't go down fighting. The movie ends well--a major power rivalry thwarted, President Thaddeus Ross united with his daughter. My favorite scene, in that it had me alarmed, is when Cap folds himself up in his wings, all out of options, & the Red Hulk is landing super blow after super blow. Is Cap going to be bloody & broken? The deviance worked out, however it's still deviance--Isaiah Bradley is the comic book Captain America. One star off for that. ๐ฑโก๏ธโ๐บ
