Unlike a number of Disney films, this is possibly one of the darkest. It doesn't feel like it's meant for anyone below 7, because many kids may not even understand a number of scenes with adult quality themes.
The character building, storytelling quite reflects the real world we live in. This movie, despite being filled with all the classical Disney tropes set up for a typical love centric film, took a different turn. Soon I realised it was much deeper than what I had hoped for from the moment "Esmerelda" was the introduced love interest. In the end, it is touching, it is a story about acceptance and love told throughout the film thanks to it's great cast of characters.
