"A House of Dynamite" - Just like some extremely well-prepared mushroom dinner: a lot of effort went into it and I appreciate the techniques applied, but still don't like Mushroom.
Better movies to watch instead of "A House of Dynamite":
- War Games (1984)
- The Day After (1983)
- Mark 13 (As it implies a nuclear war)
- Fail Safe (1964)
What irks me is what I perceive as a MASSIVE flaw in the movie: retaliate against WHO? Like why would POTUS read out that authorisation sequence without knowing who they are at war with?
Which direction would the B2 Bombers even fly? Like eastwards and then the attacker is in the west? Nonsense that whole plot.
Not an expert, but couldn't jets be scrambled to intercept these ICBMs? Or isnt't there any other way? FLAK? Like what one did in WWII? Dunno. Must be a better solution than to just say "Ah, that's it, we fired 2 missles."
Many have commented that it is a story told three-times over. However, the same style works awesomely in Stephen Leather 's "Private Dancer" and the movie "Vantage Point". No issues there. I thought that was engaging.
Ultimately, the ending was as disappointing to me as was the one for "Hurt Locker". Guess I should have checked on who directed it first.
