The 'Anne Books' as I grew up with and read and re-read because they were uplifting are being betrayed by the "Anne with an E" Netflix series.
Netflix has created a more drama filled, more depressing adaptation of the books. I understand that TV /movie adaptations can vary from books but Netflix has taken too much liberty with how far thay have strayed from the books and the original stories.
The show has added stories that are unnecessary and that betray the fundamental core ' Anne-ness of the books
The added stories may be appropriate and necessary to be told but in another TV series, not one associated with books whose storylines and writing are so loved and cherished just as they are.
To add insult to injury the Anne character was clearly casted badly. The TRUE Anne character has a unique combination of awkwardness and charisma that this Actress clearly does not possess. Or should I blame the directing?
Also, The acting of most of the actors are forced and of poor quality. The exceptions being the actors that play Matthew and Marilla. Good job to the two of them Alone!
First I had to deal with the mess that Netflix did with Gilmore Girls, A Year in a Life, and now this!!!
