I have been frustrated with Newshour’s coverage of the Roe reversal. I have felt the program’s strength has been in offering opposing views, but the trend has been toward multiple representative views on the left and a brief token quote from someone like Lindsey Graham on the right. Even if I support the liberal perspective on an issue, I like to hear what the opposing take is. I’m trying to educate and inform my kids, and so far we haven’t heard a good rebuttal for Alito’s argument to have law makers make laws rather than judges. That seams reasonable to me, and seems a valuable perspective particularly given the court’s recent ruling on gun control and legislative moves on the issue. I would like to see Newshour get back to thorough representation of opposing views rather than the superficial take of the one (more often conservative) and a deeper dive on the other (more often liberal).
