From reading the reviews I would’ve thought this movie was perverse, but it’s clear that people see becoming a teenage girl as perverted rather than just a natural thing that happens.
This movie is so fun!!!! It’s bright and colorful and full of early 2000s nostalgia. It reminded me of what it felt like to be a tween/teen wanting to please my parents while simultaneously longing to be more independent. Also, she daydreams about boybands and doodles fanfic! It’s so relatable. For younger kids, it’s colorful and has a cute red panda in it that they wouldn’t even notice the message about teenage puberty.
SPOILER ALERT!!!
I don’t see how parents are getting the message how it’s anti-parent and anti-family. By the end of the movie she’s reconciled with her mother after understanding her mom went through the same growing pains with her grandmother. She continues to work in the family business all while maintaining her friendships with her other tween friends. Not to mention, actually having something in common with the school bully. Super fun!!!
