Having watched, and loved, the 1947 movie on TV years ago, my wife and I watched the recent FX 3-part made for TV remake. We liked it too, but thought it was too long. Then we discovered, to our surprise, that the 1947 movie is available on YouTube. The visual quality of the film was superb. So we watched the whole movie again. When we were through, I had to ask, why did they remake this? The original is so much better in every way than the recent TV remake.
