The lead character Anne Lister is boorish, physically unattractive with weird clothes, and a sexual predator. And do we really need more gay shows? HBO isn’t Netflix for eff’s sake. Plus, any gay person wouldn’t get away with stuff back then if anyone suspected anything, so it just comes off as a liberal show that doesn’t hit the mark historically. It’s not believable.

There are not 12,000 deaths each year from mining. That fact alone stated at the onset of the film leads to more lies in the movie. One does not need to lie to make a point in this case, it just sets up the film for one looking for falsehoods, and eventually leads to disappointing the viewers with tainted visuals.

Good acting, but a very slow plot that wasn’t that interesting.

I hate it. The politically correct rhetoric, smarmy, bad acting from no-namers. Jared Padalecki was good in Gilmore Girls and Supernatural, but is too wimpy in this role. I don’t believe him as a Dad of teenagers, either.

Kidding is the lamest thing Carey has ever done. Showtime should cancel it. What happened to Carey? He is a weirder version of himself that doesn’t work and is too creepy. The writing sucks with it trying to be edgy or funny and is neither, it’s just a sad show with a formerly great actor that looks like he is nosediving.
