it's just very silly. a very American movie with cartoonishly American characters. People always have clean clothes, even homeless people have clean clothes. It has to have a breakfast scene because every amarican movie that wants to hammer down that a family love eachother has to have a breakfast scene. Everyone is ignorant and proud to be ignorant, ultimately family life beats literally satan, it's just such a silly premise. Satan beaten by a scarf, and by this dumb random guy telling her daughter that he's there for her. Like they should have switched the demon with a pitbull, and would have been more merciless towards those 2 kids. there's also this awful trend about American movies that just trample over traditional rites, maybe due to Protestantism, in which god really is just family love, or like togetherness or good sense or bravery. It's just silly, if that's the case then the devil has no reason to even possess them in the first place, the parents mourn the lives of their kids before they have died, and after they die they have no curiosity or fear over their souls, because they're middle-class ignorant idiots who don't even have a soul, and for whom goodness is granted by being alive in the middle class. Just very American, very goofy, not scary at all.
