I actually find the tv series very entertaining even though it has diverged ridiculously from the books. I guess they had to make it fit in to a tv schedule as there were 14 books in all. Let’s hope the tv adaptation ends better than the books. I literally read them all and they were incredible all the way through until the final chapter of the final book. Never been so disappointed with book ending. Read them though; this was only my opinion. The author died before he could finish so this was probably the reason.
