On the third episode now. so far it is really good. I live in Tokyo and I have a considerable amount of experience working for Japanese companies. they portray the corporate culture of a conservative Japanese company well. Unfortunately, the show creators portray a few key factors not in the correct way. First of all, even in 2024, even in Tokyo, It is almost impossible to find a Japanese person who speaks English fluently. Given that the protagonist worked for a "Japanese Newspaper" in the 90's, the probability that your regular "salaryman" colleague would communicate with you in English is nearly 0. If you speak Japanese even slightly, your Japanese colleagues will never try to communicate in English. Secondly, for a person who is portrayed as super good at written Japanese (believe me, even reading a newspaper is a big deal which your regular Gaijin cannot do) Jake's spoken Japanese skills are pretty poor. It is even visible to me who sucks at Japanese

It tries to sound like a good movie but the plot is.... well let's say i have seen thousands of times with different actors. nothing new here.... cam't believe David Fincher stopped Mindhunter and went for this
