There is a lot of times where the theme of the page pulled me out of the world and spoiled the story that was actively happening.
I read this mostly because I’ve read all things Brandon Sanderson, but this book is not what I would consider one of his greats. Strong start then you’ll really have to press against your suspension of disbelief to chew through the last of it. With the ending being less than satisfying.
If you’ve read books 1-4 then you don’t need this review to help you with your decision; you should absolutely read it.
The book did feel a bit light a launchpad for what may be the Tabletop RPG Sanderson created. There was even a side story containing 3 characters that felt more like D&D players injected themselves into a fantasy book. People I don’t particularly care for—or about.
Just know going into it that it’s not very satisfying, hopefully that lowers the expectations and improves your journey through Roshar.
