Brought our family to see this assuming that it would be an uplifting, warm and family friendly way to kick off the holiday season. Unfortunately it delivered none of this. I’m sad for anyone who brings their young children to this movie, thinking it will be suitable, it is not.
Don’t get me wrong, Tom Hanks morphs into Mr. Rogers quite suitably, the supporting actors are fine, the storyline is just not what one would expect from the previews or the title, or for the pre-holiday release date. It is however, a very realistic glimpse into the “real-life” drama of a writer whose writing assignment is an interview with Mr. Rogers, which turns into more of the writers problematic life trials.
Main disappointment for us was it didn’t resemble what we saw in the previews and we were hoping for a fun, inspiring and warm type of flick.
