Just watched Repo! The Genetic Opera all the way through for the first time and I can see why I didn't finish it as a teen. It has a lot of interesting ideas and could have been really good if they had cast that could sing, and writing that wasn't clunkily jammed into a verse. It definitely feels like it was put together by a teenager. Maybe someday someone can remake it so the pacing, camera work, singing, writing and instrumentals aren't a mess. I know that a lot of people like this movie but I think the ideas were there just why comic book flashes? Why not have the narrator at the beginning introducing the scene like you did at the end? Why not use tri pods? Why not have singers for ALL the main rolls? Why have a musical number before the ending opera that if put at the begining would have explained the villain of the story? Maybe hire a cinematographer, Lyricist, song writer and match the music to your shots especially with the instruments. Having a driving drum beat over parts of silence is a little distracting. It sucks to see the few compodent actors/singers struggling because their lines and music don't make sense. Idk maybe I'm missing something.
