Possibly one of the greatest movies of all time.
There is so much i can say about this film. First off, I'll talk about The Batman himself. So many people give Robert Pattinson mouth for his earlier roles, and people the who say that have clearly not seen his most recent films. In this he gives a much younger, darker, and more traumatized Bruce Wayne. A Bruce Wayne that has shielded himself from society and would mush rather spend his time at night as the Dark Knight. The Batman in this movie feels so threatening, to the way he walks and talks, all the way to how his leather boots creak on the floor. They also portray it in the way that people react to him. One of the opening scenes shows criminals cowering from the shadows in fear that The Batman might be there, and also in one the lines Bruce gives about the Bat Signal, "When that light hits the sky, it's not just a call, it's a warning." Even though this movie is in every since a Batman film, in my opinion I would not call it a superhero movie. It is more of a dark, noir/detective film on Batman venturing in to the dark depths of Gotham City to uncover The Riddler's plans, and about the Riddler. Oh my god, Paul Dano's Riddler is down right terrifying. His Zodiac Killer inspired outfit gives the impression of a disturbed serial killer that will make your spine chill the first time you see him. Without spoiling the plot all I can say that the chemistry between Batman and Riddler is just awe inspiring. This is the kind of movies we only get once every couple years and I am so excited to see what Matt Reeves has in store for the rest of the franchise.
