Sweet but not too sickly confection of a film. Well acted and directed with some subtle touches here and there, as well as the obligatory cliches and tropes about Scotland.
A happy film, not big and thunderous, no violence or car chases. The romantic elements, hinted at or acted out, were perfectly "within" the story. A change to see a film where the obligatory sex scene ( yes only one) was not too cringe worthy and did add some continuity to the story.
Joanna Lumley was perfect as the singing teacher from hell, and
although the ending was not a surprise, it was well done.
Oh and there is quite a bit of operatic singing, also well done.
