An EXTREMELY tasty "not for children" concoction. Absolutely THE very best sword and sandal drama out there, and one of THE most glorious British productions ever. Literate, gritty, witty, exciting, and INTELLIGENT, this series is so good that I return to it every now and then. And it ALWAYS satisfies, even now, after all these years. That's how great it is. I wish the same team would remake [I, Claudius] and get the green light to go at least three seasons. Right up there with Sopranos and Northern Exposure and The Lord of the Rings franchise in quality. Not one scene drags, and not a word wasted, and it is just so clever as well as intelligent. And funny too.

A huge WASTE of my time. A Taiwanese [Blair Witch Project] with nonsense short clips haphazardly put together - irritatingly shaky camerawork and a lack of plot and low budget and all. Lazy moviemaking and storytelling is what it is. It masks its shortcomings with a hokey mumbo jumbo. It asks us to to accept gross out scenes as fear inducing, when it isn't even vomit inducing. Nearly but not quite. Can't even manage that. Its thin plot's narrative is repetitive and boring and I was just asking myself WHERE IS IT ALL GOING? til the anticlimactic "nothing" ending. The REAL HORROR of this movie was the shockingly filthy and run-down everything, even the hospital and the temple. What sort of a DEITY loves filth so much? A mediocrity with too much boasting. Please don't keep making such silly movies. Going to wash my eyes out now. Blech.
