I just watched Cooper Anderson's segment on Residential Schools in Canada. It was very good, but frankly it wasn't long enough. As a white person, I've always felt an affinity with the "people' and since I was a child have been fascinated with their art, their culture and their peacefulness. In fact, I just made an appliqué quilt to honour them. What was done to them was done by priests and nuns. Let that sink in. The very people who are supposed to do the work of God, abused them - physically, sexually and spiritually. The Catholic Church has been suspiciously quiet about this (which, frankly, is no surprise). They always seem to look the other way when their priests and nuns abuse children. They really need to do much more to atone for their sins and they need to play a much bigger role in helping these wonderful people live full, happy and productive lives. I certainly hope that you'll do another story like this with the focus on the catholic church. They need to be held accountable. Thank you!
