I've heard a lot of people mock Avatar for being just a remake of fern gully... As if that's a bad thing... As if we wouldn't all benefit from having more stories that center nature as worth protecting.
That part aside, it's just a solid movie with themes of family and intercultural adaptation that build relatable situations in fantastical settings. It's visually beautiful, and sneaks cool science facts in as if they're magical otherworldly discoveries. I'm excited for two more.
