The story is basically this - A struggling hairdresser finds a renewed sense of purpose when she meets a widowed father working hard to care for his two daughters. His wife is dead and now the youngest girl is critically ill and waiting for a liver transplant. This fierce woman single-handedly rallies an entire community to help the family.
Now the reason I made this post was not so much about the move as much as the thought that resonated and stayed with me. The hair dresser Is a single mother with an estranged son and when she is forced to go to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting where she hears a man say, " I was so tired of that feeling...empty no meaning no nothing I had to find something beyond myself, some purpose....that is when things changed for me. Find a reason to be here that is bigger than you are".
During one of her drunken moments she confesses to the father of the ailing child," I have this voice in my head ...everyday it tells me I am no good. Not worthy of love and not worth nothing. Drinking is the only thing that makes that voice go away."
At the end of the movie the father of the young child tells her, " I want you to know something. That voice in your head couldn't be more wrong. You're not just worthy Sharon. You're a miracle.
I have been there and had the voice of a narcissistic mother and husband that plagued me my whole life. Food was my drug. 43 years later, their voices have dimmed
in my mind and I have to really think about them a lot to actually hear them again. During my birthday last year my mentor asked what I wanted for my birthday and he immediately said," hey no handi bartan business ok. yeh dukaan band kar. Ask me for something that you would not buy yourself. YOU ARE WORTHY OF LOVE. That was a turning point in my life all over again.
I am sure we all have gone and continue to go through this daily feeling of being unworthy and unwanted but hey lemme tell you if no one already has - YOU ARE WORTHY OF LOVE. YOU'RE A MIRACLE.
