Empuran Review: It's been some time since I last reviewed a film, and with the release of *Empuran*, one of the most anticipated movies in the Malayalam film industry, I was excited to see what it had to offer. After watching it, I would give it a rating of 2/5. One of the hallmarks of a good movie is its ability to linger in your mind long after you've left the cinema. The dialogues, memorable scenes, and emotional moments should resonate with you. Unfortunately, Empuran did not leave that lasting impact. While it had potential, I felt it fell short in creating the memorable experiences that often characterize great films. If you haven't seen the movie yet, stop reading immediately—spoilers are ahead! The production quality of the film was nothing short of spectacular! However, the storyline took a wild turn, bouncing from one country to another, reminiscent of a Sancharam episodes. Then, in walks Mohanlal, and suddenly it felt like we were watching an extended pre-wedding shoot featuring Lalettan, showcasing him in various countries in slow motion. Indrajith’s character came off as a wannabe Sherlock Holmes, which was quite amusing. One of the most bizarre moments was when he expressed his desire to meet Stephen, only to be seduced away by Don Rawuthar and whisked off to the USA for a mere five-minute meet-up with Stephen sir. It was a head-scratcher, to say the least! The film was littered with unnecessary scenes, and the storyline fell into the same old gangster clichés, like faking one’s death—something we’ve seen countless times in films like Don. As for the political commentary in the first half, it painted the left as dumb retards and the right as a bunch of terrorists, yet there was a surprising amount of affection towards the Congress party in the writing. In the second half, there were a couple of moments worth watching, but overall, the film was lacking. The dialogues felt artificial, and the characters lacked consistency. At one point, Manju Warrier's costume resembled something from a fancy dress competition. The predictable dog fight at the end,I wished it was the end but film then dragged on with the introduction to the sequel which didn't make any excitement. They tried to pullout a Vikram like ending but ended up falling flat. Overall, the writing was loose, and the pacing was poor. The constant back-and-forth storytelling disrupted the flow, resulting in an unpleasant experience. In summary, the film attempted to expand its scope to a Brahmandam level but failed due to weak storytelling and a lack of depth. Proceed with caution if you choose to watch it. Ps: Views are stictly personal and Yes, I'm a die heart lalettan fan.

Dhrishyam 2. There couldn't be any perfect sequel than this.The movie was a vintage lallettan show. Murali Gopi, Sidhique, Meena and Asha did justice to their roles. The movie was a slow burn killer. Rather the plot was slowed down for an intense climax putting audiences on their toes. However, most of the other supporting actors were naive and their performance were subpar and plastic throughout. Maybe, their performance was overshadowed by the preeminent performance of the leading actors. Anyway, don't miss this gem of a movie. Lalettan ❤️
