A very gentle film about the position of the French in Southern France during WWII. It shows the need for Jewish children to be rescued and how some wonderful French people made this happen. Nevertheless, the film fails to tell the audience what the real alternatives were for Jews in France. Furthermore, at the end of the film, before the credits, the audience are told that 'some 75,000 Jews in France were sent to concentration camps'. This is not the case, some 75,000 were sent to extermination camps. There is a big difference, as displayed in the film by Joe's father, a French farmer, who returns from a concentration camp. From a pedagogical pont, films such as these must be factually accurate.
