Good pacing, Interesting characters, solid creature design and perfect setting. Presents Dracula in a new way which is a difficult task. The film arguably suffers from a lack of gore which is what general audiences have come to expect from a film with this atmosphere. When we do see gore in the film its always quite brutal so i think that makes up for its scarcity. I would argue it has an over reliance on jumpscares but doesn't reach the obnoxiously high levels a conjuring film does. Overall the reason for my high rating is because I believe this film represents a return to form for universal and a break from poorly conceived horror movies like The Nun and a break from A24 style films which while great are stylistically becoming a bit homogeneous.
