Graphics, story, and character development are pretty strong. My reason for the 3 star? As a lifelong Final Fantasy fan, the characters are getting recycled to the point that even the voices are starting to sound way too familiar. Brooding protagonist? Check. Rough gritty voice and think they stand alone? Done to death. Effeminate male antagonist with lengthy monologues of why humans need to be culled? Typical of Final Fantasy now.
Also, this game shouldn't be classified as an "RPG" but more likened to action. Hardly any freedom to pick and choose weapons, armor, and gear, let alone the strict linear maps, severe lack of enemy diversity, and magic system is laughable. Where is the freedom to play how you prefer? This title is frustratingly loved and hated all at once. Its pretty sad when we live for remastered versions of older titles, (cough, cough... Final Fnatasy 9 remake, cough cough).
