A piece that brings the gulags to life and exposes its horrors. The novel was orginally written in russian so a lot of its Solzhenitsyn flair was lost in translation. There are many characters and confusing differences in culture when it comes to those names. This is a book to read to learn rather than to be entertained. Some may find it boring because of this. Personally, I feel like the book has its ups and downs, partially interesting and then partially not.
