The book was so good until the ending. I've seen cliffhangers before, but this one was so unsatisfying because it was literally just an end out of nowhere during the climax of the novel. It felt like the author didn't know what to do next, and just decided to quit while she was ahead (in a rushed/sloppy way tbh). Apparently a lot of her books are like this, so I don't think I'll be reading more of her work.

As a young adult who is still recovering from the trauma of growing up in a similar family dynamic to Mei's, I deeply appreciate this movie. I am not an expert, but I think the animation is beautifully done, with plenty of color and design that captures the 2000s perfectly. Brings up topics that are important for parents and kids to learn about and discuss while keeping the classic Pixar charm and fun. Highly recommend :)
