A modern day film noir with a nod to Hitchcock. Sublime acting by Andrew Scott as the eponymous Ripley character conceived by author Patricia Highsmith. Interesting cameos by the enigmatic John Malcovich and a Maine Coon cat who is wise to Ripley’s murderous intent. Flights of stone steps and deserted winter Italian streets were enhanced by the beautifully atmospheric photography.
