This novel is far to advanced for the ordinary reader, many of the reviews I've read on this page, prove that, as they don't even begin to scratch the surface of this stunningly written story. The lines change from prose to poetry throughout, it's so beautifully written. It details how different people see and experience the same things, but how differently they react. It's not cut and dried, it's not an easy read and it should never be a book that's forced upon someone. It's too elegant and brilliant for most to comprehend, and quite simply the greatest American novel ever written... It speaks volumes of every emotion of the human mind and spirit.
