This book has some interesting information but I feel that it doesn’t exercise what Japanese people would share if openly describing their culture. He doesn’t jokingly refer to Kami as Gods a couple of times, but instead as Gods constantly and the Kami would not approve. Also, there is the stereotype amongst Christian’s that Shinto is a cult and I’m thinking this man is probably American, though I can’t determine if he is Christian. I don’t know if this book is translated or written in English with English spelling and lettering for Japanese words but there is no Japanese characters when mentioning words or trying to describe their meaning. Also, could this man or person be a cultist? The good about this is the information. I would definitely be interested in listening to Scott Littleton have a conversation about what he was learning when he was journaling what he was learning. I have enjoyed reading the book and thinking on what has been provided. - Alastor. C
