What the hell was that? I searched and searched for meaning and symbolism, but there was none. I figured there must be some Christian symbolism to it, but the director basically explained it didn’t have an inherent meaning and that it was roughly based on a nightmare he had as a kid. To me it felt like a movie for the sake of spectacle, that pretentious people will likely pretend to understand to appear intelligent.
