This film is such a dreadful film in so many ways, I don’t feel able to do it justice in this in turn a half thousand words. To take a franchise like Star Wars, and have a director or writer who decides to take apart everything that made Star Wars good, kill off major characters for no reason, I have strange subplots which make no sense, to have so many things that just seem to happen for no reason, makes no sense and does not fit in with the storylines and themes of the other films with in the series. This film is, if your Star Wars fan, dreadful in almost every way. Whilst the director may have decided to write this in order to please norm Star Wars films, why would you want to deliberately antagonise those people who are the bread and butter hard-core fans of the Star Wars franchise. I know so many Star Wars fans who are totally and utterly love using this film. I personally refuse to watch it if it’s on television. I would watch any of the other films, including episode one, this is dreadful. It is such a shame that this film can’t be struck from the records and re-made by somebody who actually cares about the Star Wars franchise. Embarrassing from Disney, one must hope the episode nine put right so many of the wrongs.
I haps the most shocking thing about this film is that it is the second part of a trilogy, but the director has been given carte blanche to do as he wishes with the second film with no relevance to what happened in the film before all that will come after him. How can this be allowed. It makes no sense. Disney would not have allowed this with the Marvel films, so while I’m at for Star Wars. Perhaps if the head of Lucas films was herself a Star Wars fan, which she professes not to be, then this film may have been better.
