After reading what a lot of "professional" critics wrote about this film, I concluded I must've watched a different movie. Yes, the story was depressing but sometimes, so is life. Isn't that what art does? A lot of the dialogue was surely what goes through many people's minds when one partner suddenly leaves the relationship. Not rocket science, so why the criticism? I thought Annette Bening's acting was spot on. And the same goes for her version of a British accent. Goodness gracious, in real life there are hundreds of British accents. Only pedants would try to critise her efforts. Bill Nighy was a good choice for the role. As usual, Bill Nighy played Bill Nighy perfectly. And Josh O'Connor was a good foil, stuck in the middle of 2 people who drifted apart. Moral? People need to talk to each other when marriage problems arrive. Don't bottle. People, don't let the so-called professionals deter you from seeing this movie. After all, it's just their opinions they espouse. Who's to say they are more accurate than your own?

Depressing, uplifting, intense, confronting. In spite of all that, offers hope. A great movie well acted by non-actors. Zain (the 'boy' actor & character) carries it off. Well directed. A must see, especially for those people with little empathy towards refugees.

An excellent movie about sibling relationships and maintaining the family's wine making traditions. Beautifully set and well acted. Ty[ical of the French movies I love so much. They lead the world, in my opinion.
