Honestly, if you’re under the age of 13 you’ll find this film very enjoyable. Perfect for kids. However, if you’re looking for something original and not like any other film you’ve seen, this isn’t one you should watch. (‼️Spoilers ahead‼️) The first thing I noticed about this film is the fact that there’s 5 superheroes with typical superpowers- and they’re all kids? I understand this is encouraging kids to dream, but they’re really grasping at straws with these new superhero ideas. I get that it’s the whole premise of the film, but it’s poor from DC. Throughout are these epic, gorgeous special effects (hence this gets A star) They’re realistic, vibrant and they don’t look out of place- I was very impressed by them. Although, bedazzling special effects are not a reason to put in a meagre effort on script writing or casting. The script was horrendous, with half of it making me physically cringe- especially the corny ‘teenage love’ they depict, which is quickly shut off by her being a god. Much too cliché. On the topic of cliché, there have been far too many movies and films lately which are based on some newly emerged god which the superhero has to fight. Take Wonder Woman, for example. Take black Adam. I’m sure there’s plenty of more that I’m not thinking of, but DC need to get some better ideas. Also, what was the point of Wonder Woman being in this film? She probably got paid bucketloads for around 5 minutes of screen time just because they wanted a celebrity in there. Maybe to make up for the poor casting? Unsure. Don’t get me wrong, I think the actors were *fine*, there was just a shocking amount of them- each one barely got any screen time. Anyway, if you enjoyed this film I can see why, but as someone who enjoys films that are actually good (my family took me them with them to see this film, it wasn’t my choice to go and I very much would’ve rather watched something else) I did not. I came to watch the amaze chase. Where was raquelle when you need her. She would’ve carried. Lack of raquelle makes this a 1 star. Justice for raquelle!!
