Definitely a wonderful film. I loved the elemental, Yin/Yang, Chinese culture, karma, mythical creatures and the value of learning English. I also loved an ordinary looking Asian dude is the hero. I definitely feel the same as those Hero,, afraid to truly be who they are and work to their full potential,, face their dark side. I had resisted watching this movie because I knew I would be hooked and cry and man I kept on tearing up at touching moments. This movie has a nostalgic feeling permeates through that has me feeling familiar and also brand new. I am always afraid of the violence in this world, and this movie has motivated me to let go bits of it by showing me what those character went through in this sequence of event. Some movie is just incredibly a let down and much disappointment. This formulation is quick tempo, set core value-conflicts-resolution, action packed, not overly sexual, some beloved Chinese actors, etc: all in all, in my humble opinion, a great movie that I would add to my collection. Redemption As a mixed Asian non-binary gay bi trans cis asexual American, I can relate. So thank you I feel less disconnected. Usually I can’t relate to any of the super heroes because they don’t have my parentage. As I grew older I begin to find out whom my ancestors were and they made many tv shows and movies about their story. My mother would tell her family fairytale and my father would tell who is in our family tree. And then I realized the shows I watched and those characters went through was not a singular event but part of my legacy. Very deeply resonated to think of them as my aunt or uncle or perhaps a reincarnation of myself .. used to think my suffering no one could see or vindicate for my justice. These offers vindication and witness for their glory, fall from grace, and redemption. I was reminded of those past promise to never again. If you have a legacy, mixed parentage, mixed American you will definitely enjoy this movie. Cheers
