Truly a masterpiece, from the story line, to the action and to the background story of the characters of mostly, Denzel & the criminal organisation, 'Le Hermandad', this movie exceeds expectations. The 9 year old, Dahkota Fanning revealed nothing but realness and naturalism on screen; not once did I think to myself "she’s acting" or "she’s holding back". Fanning showed true vulnerability & at such a young age where adult actors are unable to do so. Of course, just the presence of Denzel sends chills to my spine; him playing an ‘alcoholic with a past he cannot forgive himself for' sets up a a stage for the audience to be mentally attached to his character through sympathy, from the start of the movie all the way to the end. 20:53- "Romans chapter 12:21, I’m the sheep that got lost," I think at this point we understand the severity of his sadness, as he vaguely explains how his past has made him out of touch with God and reality, again setting up a stage for the audience to feel nothing but sympathy for a man who has killed and killed and killed.
