Heartbreaking. The only word that can be used to describe this book. Jennings Michael Burch describes the hardships and losses of his childhood in this book. He talks about the many Foster Homes he is sent to, the people he meets and befriends, and his complications with his family life. When I read this book I was interested with every page I turned. Every time I got to the end of a chapter, I wanted to know what happened next and how the book ended. It really hits you when you realize that what is written in this book isn't realistic fiction. This book recalls true events that happened during the authors childhood. Themes of family, friends and fellowship are widely present in this book. It makes you realize that the friends you make are basically the family you can choose. I'd recommend this book to anybody 13 and older. You won't want to stop reading until you finish!

As a middle school student, I wasn't very into books. Then I read The Outsiders. S. E. Hinton tells an amazing and emotional story with this book. The beginning immediately captures your attention and the ending leaves you in deep thought and satisfaction. All of the characters in this book are interesting and relatable, a couple of them can be funny too. I think that this book was made into a movie too. I don't remember much about the movie, but it had a good cast (Emilio Estevez and Ralph Macchio are in it). I 110% recommend this book to anybody looking for something fun to read. You'll love this one!
