Ash Neeland

Wow. I have actually never watched a film that has made me so confidently say I could write something better. After watching it I genuinely had to take a second to process the fact I had just wasted 1 and a half hours of my life on this movie. The infection is confusing. They claim it is lethal but during the entire run time you do not see a single person actually die. Nor am I actually sure what it does. From what I can tell it just makes you look really ugly. The makeup was maybe the only part of this film that I had any interest in, and it was still heavily under-utilised. They have taken one of maybe the easiest tropes (deadly virus on a plane) to make an exciting and thrilling movie about and somehow failed. The characters are forgettable and really incredibly stupid. There are absolutely zero moments where I at all felt any kind of emotion for them. Everything they did was stuff that they had gotten themselves into. If you want to watch a GOOD movie with a similar presence, I would recommend [REC].

Such a refreshing take on the zombie/pandemic genre. The Sadness is possibly the most disturbing movie I have ever watched, but it’s so shocking and grotesque that I struggled to look away. It does over the top without coming off as just being for shock value. When I first read the triggers for it on doesthedogdie I considered giving it a miss due to the various scenes and mentions of SA, but the scenes don’t drag out and actually add to the plot. Truly shows how vile this disease makes humanity. It has some commentary on how the world handled the COVID-19 pandemic, but it’s done in a way that is obvious enough for you to make the connections without being like “oh my god, we get it”. Overall I would highly recommend this movie if you can stomach it.
