There are four brilliant lines of dialogue in this film that reminded this viewer of the film's title, The Garden of Evil, and his own life experiences. Spoiler Alert: They appear below. The film is well produced, directed and photographed. The Mexican vistas are stunning and are not reminiscent of any other Western that this viewer has seen. The action is compelling and perfectly paced. Richard Widmark and a young Cameron Mitchell get the acting nods. Gary Cooper is, well, Gary Cooper. And Susan Hayward does a good job overall and, eventually, exposes her acquired indifference toward men and love. Here are those thought provoking lines: "Never believe what a woman says. Always believe what a woman sings." Richard Widmark "Maybe it's not the woman, maybe it's the sugar." Gary Cooper "No one is all true to anybody, or anything."
